Help!

My Ibiza seems to be a bit smokey at the moment!

Just on start up first thing in a morning, i turn the key and it bursts into life but i always seem to notice a small cloud and the smell of smoke/fumes pass the front of the car a few seconds later.

Smoke isn't blue so not worried about the turbo.

The car's done 63k now and was last serviced at 60k back in early October.

Have all my services done by a local independent VAG guy with a good reputation. If i need to, will take it to him to get him to clean up the engine a bit if thats what's causing it.

Any thoughts?

It may just be the cold air i suppose!?!

mine started off just white mate then blue had to have new turbo

Ah sh*t!!

How much did you have to fork out for that??

And how long before it went??

Did that solve the smokey issue you get when giving it the full beans in say 3rd or 4th gear?

:) A bit of smoke on start up first thing in the morning is perfectly normal. If it kept smoking after a few minutes i'd be worried.
You're probably just noticing it more in the cold, dry, still air.

It's fine its just the cold mornings and possibly a little oil getting through due to the temperature. If once its fully warmed up its doing it then worry if its just at start up thats perfectly normal in this weather.

My mk2 kicks out a little puff of smoke on a cold morning start, soon as i'm at the end of the road its fine.

When i worked at Pug the 1.6HDI's used to make a propper cloud on a cold morning start, literally couldn't see!

Ah maybe it is just that.

I was panicking last night - i read on here of a new turbo - for nearly £4k!!

I noticed it more yesterday as it did it at start up and a few mins afterwards - BUT - it was very foggy and i was on an estate. However, when i got on the main road, it seemed to disappear. I think the fog had disparsed a bit on the main road.

Will keep my eye on it though!

Ta for all the answers!
