The diesel Leon's are currently repeating their strong testing form from 2 weeks ago, by topping the free practice time sheets again at Snetterton today. :) So far Vauxhall don't appear to have a answer to SEAT's speed at the Norfolk circuit.

are they not carrying much success ballast from previous round?

Championship ballast is calculated on the drivers championship position going into the race weekend.

Ballast is only applied in qualifying to the top 6 championship places.

Plato is currently 4th in the overall championship, and his Leon will carry 18kgs of extra weight on top of his base weight. It applies throughout free practice, qualifying and race 1 tomorrow. Then his finishing position in race 1 will calculate what ballast he runs with in race 2, and so on.

Turner is 8th in the overall in the championship, and as such runs with his base weight.

Base weight varies depending on the type of car, BTC Spec must be 1200kgs including the driver. S2000 petrol and S2000D (ie the Leon) are whatever the FIA stipulate plus an extra 10kgs added by TOCA to both S2000 and S200D.

As far as i'm aware the S2000D run heavier than S2000 petrol.

However all that said, the type of circuit Snetterton is, even if they were fully ballasted. It wouldn't make a huge difference to the Leon. It's very much a point and squirt circuit, weight tends to hurt a car that's changing direction a lot.

if no one looks to be responding, there is no point wasting the rubber.

But i bet he goes out again for the dying minutes. Unless there is a problem.

His team mate won't be happy with 2nd that's for sure, he'll make him work for it.
