Morning,

Last night I made a trip (2 Miles) into town and realised that something metal like was rattling under the car now originally I thought oh that will be the exhaust falling off... and as I am quite crap at these things I assumed the worst, now looking at it and having a poke and a feel while it's cold the exhaust seems fine...

What else could be loose at the back? I see quite abit about a heat plate? Where is this situated?

I have checked the spare etc but I am kind of limited to what I can achieve, but don't fancy taking it to a garage just to tighten a nut up...

The noise is quite loud and sounds like metal hitting metal... only happens when I go over bumps...

any help would be great

Cheers

I had a similar noise on mine and couldn't find anything ,but when i reversed up my drive to try and listen to the noise it stopped after a few meters ,i thought something might have been cought in the brake caliper, i couldn't see anything and its been fine since.
This probably won't help but you never know.

Thanks for you're reply buddy :) just been to the garage in town and they had it on the lift and 4 of them couldn't find the problem yet they took it for a drive and definitely heard it so I'm not going insane lol

Next garage it is then...

Saw a nice 05 mk2 Leon in Matt black and red decals though :)

This sounds very similar to a noise a friend of mine in his MK2 experienced recently.

a very harsh, almost smashing noise?
i put it up on my 4 poster, couldnt find anything, removed the wheels, checked the brakes, suspension, exhaust etc etc.

put it all back, took it down drove off...and it had stopped.

never knew what it was. strange mind, wasnt a nice noise.

i could not find it atall, i sat all over the car when driving and narrowed down its location to OSR, but when checking, nothing was broken, missing, loose, insecure etc.

it just stopped.

are u sure the spare wheel loose in the boot or something is sitting in the spare wheel well

Yeah I took it all out... Thing that took me away from the boot is that you can hear it just as loud outside the car...

my mates spring was broken too, but i picked that up nearly a year ago! (still not changed now mind)

i could only assume that the spring had moved slightly, and raising it on the ramp, and lowering it again allowed the spring to resit it self. Those springs sit soo tight in their cups, it wont go anywhere.
