Hi

Im new to the MK2 world ,Im a mk4 owner!

Ive come across a Kiwi Green (if thats wot its called) MK2 Ibiza for sale locally

Its badged up as a GTI-Cupra ,i thought they where just named GTI's?

Anyway i just wanted to know what kind of BHP etc these produce as im looking for a car which is gonna be a weekend fun car as at the moment i drive a customcoded 1.4tdi which of course is modded and looks good just hasnt got the power.

im under the impression theres a 8V,16V and a 150bhp model so i just want to really find out which one this is ,It's a T reg if that helps

Your best bet is to have a bit of a search mate, the badge really doesnt show you much at all!

The 16v's had multispoke ronals and the 8v's had 5 spokes if i remember correctly. the 16v spoiler has a lip on the back of it going up a smidge.

Best way to tell is to get a shot of the engine, the valver has a it written on the manifold :)

8v cupras were 115bhp and 16v were 150 but yeah, have a search

Edit: Did you check the FAQ? http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/showthread.php?t=111235&page=2

Looks like a 8V ,Got 5 Spoke wheels , Small rear spoiler and the engine hasnt got the manifolds going over the top of engine like im used to seing on MK2 Golfs 16v's

115bhp is a little disapointing as my 1.4tdi is running around 112bhp but i might see how cheap i can get it and look at some kind of conversion!

Thanks for clearning this up

Telford ay it...
My dailys a mk4 pd130....175 sport, 8v's are cracking little motors and thats why I have one as a track hack. You wont have that ummph of torque but it will be fun non the less, possibly quicker anyhoot due to weight and the extra 10 ponnies Seat didnt tell us about (many 8v's rr at 125bhp).

Kool i thought it was a 8v because im used to seeing the manifold over the top as on the MK2 Golf GTI 16V's

if you look at the advert for that car hes advertising it as a 16v :ban:

as said above ill see how much i can get this for ,if its cheap might just track it

Happens all the time, unfortunately.

Main differences are:
-engine bay (as pointed out earlier),
-15inch 5 spoke wheels on the 8v, 16in multispoke on the 16v (usually)
-extra lip on the rear spoiler on 16v cars
-16v often came with 1/2 leather interior
-16v badging
