Great stuff! Lets hope the problem has been sorted? I will get to GSF tomorrow. RobM did you read what i said about how the car is driving with the maf dissconnected A few posts up the page? You think its all sounds about right? Thanks again everyone!!
Well i pluged the MAF back in today and so far its not too bad? a bit of a jurk now and then, maybe it will take the ECU a bit of time to realize its pluged in again? (or not?) but when it was unpluged it had no jurk at all felt a lot smoother so maybe the MAF was the prob? GSF got them in for £65 + vat. Im getting the cambelt done next week so will have to wait a bit longer for the MAF. You guys think the MAF is the problem?
If it drove smoother without the MAF, then I'd say you have found the answer. It's entirely possible it's not the onlyproblem, but I'd be fairly confident it needs to be changed.
If it is the MAF you may notice things getting worse as time goes on, as they can deteriorate gradually.
For £65+vat i think its a good idea to give it a go!! apart form feeling a bit slower when it was unpluged my felt pretty good, Nice and smooth in all gears. Thanks again for everyones help. Im sure you will hear from me again if its not the MAF?
If the MAF is giving out dodgy readings could be your problem. Its not totally gone so your not getting the check engine light etc but if the readings are out it throws out the air/fuel mixture causing rough running.
Thing is if you buy a MAF and its not that, you can whack it on ebay and get the majority of your money back. just look at what people are selling genuine bosch MAF's for on there.
yes your right. i dont mind having a spare or even selling on ebay is a good idea. I think i will have to buy one and fingers crossed the problem is solved? Thanks guys
