Does the 150 TDI have one? I remember driving a 184 and there was a marked difference between sport mode and ECO mode. On mine switching between the modes makes no difference to the sound. Is this something that can be tweaked in Vag COM?

No the 150 does not have it. I think the speaker is missing so don't think its a simple switch on.

You're better off without it. Males the car a bit noisy on the motorway. I'm going to turn mine down to 20% through vcds I think.

Yeah - the reason i was asking was that i wanted to turn it off - if it had one!

Meppershall Beds.
since yours doesn't, would seem you have a growl that perhaps shouldn't be there.
My FR 184 has one, and I must admit to not liking the added sound; the car can growl anyway under revs and load.
which is not necessarily a bad thing....

Done it just need to try it next time we go out .....

Select STG A9 (Körperschallaktuator)
STG adjustment -> function 10
Select a channel volume of the actuator for impact sound
Value corresponding to customize default value: 100% In adjustment to value 0 of the sound amplifier is completely disabled

I really don't understand why you would want to turn this down... The car is a horrible diesel and anything to mask the sound is nice, the synthesizer certainly doesn't make a bad noise , why not just come out of sport mode? My other car being an R32 could mean I used to a very loud engine anyway lol

It doesn't sound bad. It sounds err like a diesel. I just wanted to know if I could make it a bit quieter in Eco mode on the motorway.

It's too noisy on the motorway or when the engine is under any load, no matter how little. It's much louder than the actual engine noise.

Coming home tonight with the lil one asleep in the back and I did think Sport was a little too noisy, so I just put it into Normal mode - don't really see the problem. Sport mode is no louder than any normal performance car, so it seems the best of both worlds that you can effectively turn the engine sound off lol

I suppose it would be nice to have the option to lower the effect via car settings.

It can be done. The car drives better when it's engaged but the constant drone on a cruise is silly as to be fair for a diesel it's hushed then. I don't mind the idea of one, especially on a diesel, but when it makes the car noisier it defeats the purpose!

Might not worry me for much longer as I'll have a shorter commute and possibly a Golf R ordered!

Lucky you with the possibility of a Golf R on the horizon!!! I would be willing to bet that will be louder at motorway speeds then this Leon in Sport mode... And that's exactly the point for me, it's meant to synthesize a sportier car not drown out the diesel sound which as you said, isn't loud anyway. I just put it in to Normal mode during long journeys (and then enjoy an annoying rattle from the back instead :censored:), I'm used to my R32 with a full Milltek so this is much quieter either way ;)

I would have loved the Golf R but the Leon was a better deal at the time for me, now on lease the Golf R is even better still, just as long as you keep below 10,000 mpa which isn't enough for me

I have a 184 FR, and wondered .. when in sport mode, as well as getting the enahnced noise in the car, is there any change to the external exhaust note?
