the slight clunk/rattle would worry me.

again, explain the problem in a more elaborate way that you have. What else did you notice about the drive itself? was theer boost loss, was idling crap, etc.
then vag com.
Seeing as you have just bought this car, I strongly advise you to get a version of vagcom. with these cars its guessing, and vagcom will at least point you in the right direction.
just because your dumpvalve might sound differently, doesn;t mean the problem lies there.
Example, coilpack goes, running on 3 cylinders, boost is down = different dump sound. Get what I'm saying![]()
but when i put it back in the garage while revving didnt sound like there was any turbo whistle or sucktion
where do i buy vagcom lead/cable and computer software etc
you won't at idle/standstill
ross-tech will sell you genuine vag com.but if you are a novice,i'd put out a plea in your area for someone with a bit more knowledge.
Check the connection from the TIP to the turbo at the turbo end, TIP is the silicone pipe that runs from your air filter to your turbo.
Also check the connection from the charge pipe to the turbo, charge pipe is the one that cross`s the engine from front to back.
Im betting a hose has popped off.
