Sounds like exhaust blowing when cold, but not?!

Hey,

I have a Leon Cupra 53 reg (04). A couple of problems.

-When the car is cold, you start it and it sounds like the exhaust is blowing. After approx 2 minutes, this stops and it ticks over as quite as a mice. I heard it's something on the exhaust that kicks in to the warm the system quicker, and that's knackered. Anyone any ideas what this part is called?? Seat don't know!

-I've noticed the air con icon on the heater display won't stay on. When you press the button it just flicks straight off! I didn't know if this was do to the cold weather?? Any ideas?

The blowing noise is the secondary air pump and the air con wont work under 5 degrees, not problems just normal operation

Is there not a fault on the exhaust then? Thanks very much for replying.

Nope no fault at all, it's working as it should by trying to prolong the life of your catalytic converter
