Just wondered if anyone has put a proper spare in the boot instead of the standard moped wheel?

I've only had a few punctures in my time, but I know that being limited to 30 and having to go straight to a garage to get it fixed would have been a total fecker, so I've been thinking of getting a decent standard steel full size spare.
Anyone already done it?

It's 50 your limited to... Had to go all the way from Sterling to Aberdeenshire on one..!

I have bought a spare but the tyre is knackered, have bought a new tyre, just got to get my mate to put it on when I get home then I will have a full size spare in the car.

Really 50?
Oh well thats a bit beter. One of the young mechanics at my garage told me 30 and I thought at the time, 'whats the use of that!!'
I guess either way it would make for a shitty ride with one on? I bet Sterling to Aberdeenshire was a lot of fun on one? :(

Whenever I've had a puncture its always at the most inconvienient time. You know, early hours sunday morning, or away at work, or when you're most busy and havent got time to go to a garage.

I bought a spare OZ cupra R wheel as a spare to go with my set of 4.
Got it as i need it to fit over the Brembos if i get a front puncture.

failing that you could swap the back for a front and put the spare on the back instead,
Or just ditch it altogether and call the AA :)

i bought a can of that run flat stuff will hopefully do the job if i ever get a puncture. hopefully wont get one though. have the car on a construction site every day and thankfully havent had one yet ..... did rip the sump mind you lol.

i cant run my space saver as im too low... i tried putting the spare on the front and found that the car just nose dives in to the floor.

i guess if i even get a puncture at the front i will need to swap back to front then have the spare on the back...

if you can find out what a cupra R boot floor mat number is and get one from SEAT. the Cupra R's have a full sized spare (oz super t) in the boot just incase they get a puncture...

I heard that run flat stuff in the can is apparently ok to get you home but most tyre places wont even attempt to fix the puncture as it is too labour intensive to clean all the stuff out of the tyre, instead they will make you get a new tyre

Apart from the labour involved in cleaning the tyre to fix it properly some of the get you home cans have something in them that is carsonagenic (lethal!) and from my experience they just throw the tyre out straight away...

They won't fix all punctures either!

i was thinking of putting a full size spare in the boot too, but not an oz just a standard cupra anyone know if they will fit without changing the boot carpet?
