Hi all,

iam pretty mechanically minded hence been a little confused, Whats the correct way to remove the coils so i can reach the plugs?

Do i pull them straight up then disconnect from underneath?

You need a coil removal tool otherwise you are gonna struggle to get the coils out. I know I tried and eventually got the dealer to do it for me. I am ordering a tool from VW as I have the part number and everything, only like 30.00 quid for it so it is worth it as far as I am concerned. Then you need a long socket to get to the plug and a magnet to remove it from the barrel. Easy enough when you have the tools but if you don't..............

Looks like a may have to invest in the VW tool..

i read on a forum somewere they use 2 tie-wraps instead of the tool, but i couldnt even see were you would use them.

i didnt want to pull to hard on the connect part as it doesnt seem too strong.

I just used a screwdriver and levered them carefully have done it 3/4 times now and on my mates old boc aswell never had any problems

The risk of damaging the coil is too great for me so i would rather invest in the puller but hey, every one to their own i guess.

Those are the same playinums I had, didn't even last 5K hahahahha. You can see the coil puller tool there which I am getting today. Ordered it yesterday from VW.
