Speed Warning beeps

Sorry probably a noob question.

I have a 61 plate facelift Seat Leon FR TDi.

When I reach 80mph the car sounds a beeping noise.

I have checked settings and for speed warning it shows "----" which I assume means it is disabled. Winter Tyres option is not enabled.

I've read the manual and followed the instructions. I even tried setting to highest mph and it still beeped.

Should I take it back to SEAT to see if they can disable it?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Hmm strange, unless its a new thing. 80 mph is the speed limit in (alot) of Europe and soon to be UK, could be a safety thing.

Lol I don't speed as much as I used to but you need to do more than 70 to overtake cars on the motorway.

Might ask SEAT if this is a new safety function that cannot be disabled then.

Already tried that. Rather than leaving it at '----' I've set it to 85mph, so will test it out. If that doesn't work, maybe its a safety feature on the new cars like the others have mentioned, hope not though as its annoying.

Just had a quick look at mine which are disabled, just a matter of unticking the check-box to turn them off completely.

dont think that turns it off, i think that just removes it off the mfd data list

Clearly not cos it's still in the MFD list and the chimes don't sound.

Snap, same for me ... that list controls what is viewed on the MFD.
Warning Beeps can be disabled in VCDS.

So if it disappears when unticked, how do you get it back in the event you should want to enable chimes??
