Thought I'd try here first before pulling things apart

When I go to start my car, put the key in the ignition, click it forward once the clock set should switch on (the petrol gauge flicks up, the oil and handbrake lights click on also the airbag light comes on) then click forward once more to start the car. Well 2 days ago this stopped happening i.e the whole cluster does not work for a few minutes on start up, then it just clicks back to normal a few minutes after the car has started (revs, fuel, speed ect) its kinda like the needles have stuck or not getting any power, then just back to normal

has anyone elce had this problem? is it just a duff connection or is something on the way out?

going to get into it tommorrow, just wondering if anyone elce has had this problem?

ta

oh forgort 95 beezer GTi 8v. full clock set revs, speedo, fuel, temp ect

also has anyone got a picture of the rear of the clock set? I need to replace a bulb in it on the bottom left hand corner but I do not know where it is (replaced the main 2 in the middle but now the bottom left is very dark

cheers

sorted i'll pop up to the stealers in the week, do you just unscrew the whole speedo bit to get to the bulbs?

yep, it shows you in the haynes. 2 screws in the dash, pull out the trim part, 2 screws in the cluster, un do the connector in the back and slide it through the steering wheel carefully. Its quite easy but you need a little paitence

well I've found I have a dodgy connection somewhere behind my dash, which aint too good. Ok next problem. the whole cluster seems to have 4 bulbs in the back to light it up one for each of the instruments (temp, speedo, tacho, fuel) I've replaced the 2 main ones in the back (speedo & tacho) the fuel is fine but the temp is dark. Does anyone know where the bulb is for this? (bottom left hand side) to replace it, do I have to take the whole cluster apart? don't think i should be doing this

can someone tell me how or show me a pic please?
