Speedo not working?

Hi guys!
I removed the instrument cluster on my Ibiza Tdi 130 to sort the airbag light for the mot the other day.
Once back in everything worked perfectly until I drove up the road and discovered the speedo didn't work. The odometer on speedo works as does trip meter. Everything works apart from speedo.
I did move speedo needle with my finger when it was out but that was all.
If the plug on the back wasn't located correctly surely the lights and odometer / trip wouldn't work?
Anyone had this problem?
Cheers!

Got VCDS or Vagcom?

Do an output test on the instrument cluster to check the speedo is connected and you moving the needle hasn't unsettled it.

Otherwise recheck the socket is in secure and terminals are clean.

Unfortunately I have no vcds . But I know a man who does but he live 70 miles away.
Can't see what's gone wrong. The yellow speedo plug locks into place with a purple locking leaver so I presumed it located correctly.

Cheers!

Thanks for replies ! I shall have another fiddle with the plug first then if that fails try the vcds .
Yes I can't pass the mot without speedo grrr!
As my car is modified for track use it will pass with no air bag light coming on then going off according to the garage that will do the mot.
Cheers!

Try two things.. firstly tap the speedo.. I know sounds stupid but got mine working when I had this issue.

Secondly do you have the 6 dial clocks as this was my issue, the dreaded solder issue with those, and I replaced mine with FR clocks and it sorted it once and for all.

I took the clocks out again to check that the plug for the speedo was located correctly which it was and tried tapping it but still no luck.
I take it I have the 6 dial cluster as I have 6 dials lol!

Can the speedo be repaired ?
Cheers!

Short answer yes, you can get the joints soldered again. However this is a costly affair and quite dicey for skill that is, you either have it or you don't. I'd look for the FR dials and get them programmed across, but each to their own.

Quick update.
Just been to my mot garage who's told me they don't do a test to see if speedo works. Even when running the brake test on the rollers . They do check everything is illuminated though.
Covering air bag light with tape is also ok and sorts that pesky air bag light for good.
I'm just using my iPhone for a GPS speed reading now and it's more accurate than the main speedo lol!
Can I live without a OEM speedo ? Yes!
