Hi everyone, all experience and help appreciated! please go easy on me, only had my Leon 5months and its my first turbo+VAG motor, so still learning. I have also checked the forums already and cant seem to find anything definitive
Running a 2001 1.8t AUQ
Mods as followed: apexi open cone filter, forge blow off splitter valve, sports cat and powerflow exhaust, lowered all round, (allegedly) stage 1 remap.

Iv been having an issue with the EML light coming on the day after i brought it, saying bank 1 too lean on air. So took it to my mechanic mate who was convinced it was the decat. i got a sport cat fitted (200cpi) and reset the light. 125 miles later, came back on.
Decided to ferret around the engine bay myself after discovering the wonders of this forum  and low and behold, found the 90degree hose coming from underneath the inlet manifold, had a nice split in it. Followed the other hoses connected to this one and found another one with a split in.
Ordered some silicone piping and replaced these small pipes myself, jubilee clipped up, all nice and tight. Took the crank case breather hoses and cleaned the gunk out of them (oil catch tank is the job to do once i sort this!!) and connected it all up again.
Now after i did this yesterday, i noticed that when coming off boost, there was waste gate chatter which i never got before. Even i know that chatter is bad for the turbo. I can only presume the split in the pipes meant the pressure in the system was escaping here and the BOV, so i never got it. Now iv fixed those pipes and presumably made more pressure in the system, would i be right in thinking that's causing the chatter? the diverter valve isn't up to the job?
As i was on here last night and the general consensus seems to be that the BOV (all be it a forge splitter and the adjustable clicky one {excuse my ignorance with describing}) needed to be got rid of. so went to creation motorsport in Birmingham today and brought a standard recirc valve ( if you want to see which one, go to creation motorsport.com, its the £34.99 one)
fitted this tonight, and while it seems to have eliminated the chatter, iv not got no power at all! feels like a non turbo all of a sudden!
Before i started messing with this yday, the boost gauge (fitted by previous owner) went to around 1 bar on full throttle, and dropped straight off when releasing the throttle. Now tonight when doing it, the needle doesnt move untill above 4000rpm, and when release the throttle, it spikes then goes straight down again??

Any help or opinions appreciated, i want to get it running right as iv caught the bug now!

have you got the new valve plumbed in properly? It sounds like the recirc is opening when it should be closed and vice-versa

Well only one way to find out and reverse it in the morning. If i have ignorantly put it in backwards, wouldn't this cause error lights etc etc straight away though?

Just check that you haven't accidently mixed up the connections. The small port on top is obviously the vac connection. The bottom of it, (the end opposite the vacuum port), goes into the TIP (turbo intake pipe) and the port on the side of it goes to the pipe from the big silver pipe that leads down the back of the engine to your intercooler

Ok so i did have the valve the wrong way round, il hold my hands up. Now that iv changed it to the correct setting though, it still feels massively under powered. Im not getting any chatter which im glad about. But i put my foot down and it just doesnt...dont know how to describe it, just doesnt pull away like it used to! The boost gauge doesnt even move now, untill i let the throttle go and then it will spike up and back down straight away.
What am i doing wrong? is the valve i brought from creation still no good? i know it was cheap but i needed something quick to stop me doing long lasting damage to the turbo.

Just to add as well, before i changed the forge splitter, the chatter i was getting was at any kind of revs/speed coming off throttle when driving. Just to clarify, this is waste gate chatter and not the splitter chattering, as iv read a few things saying there is a difference.
