Does anyone know what the Sport Mode sound actuator should sound like and how loud it should sound inside (and/or) outside the car and can the volume be adjusted?

My hearing is OK, but I can't really hear any difference in the type or volume of engine sound between Sport and Normal Mode in my Leon Mk3 1.8TSI Petrol DSG, except that the gears change up at higher revs in Sport Mode, so the engine naturally sounds a bit noisier because it is often running at higher speeds than in Normal Mode!

None of my passengers notice the alleged sound actuator in Sport Mode either, so (sadly) I can't impress them with this supposed feature!:(

I still asking myself sometimes if that actuator actually working. but it is there :) maybe the diesel owners can hear a big difference than us with 1.8 tsi as the sound is more natural...

For diesels (184) there is a huge difference from Sport (act. On) to all other modes (act. Off) regarding the engine sound.

Because you have a DSG, I can't quite tell from this statement whether you're changing it in the Drive Mode selection on the infotainment unit or just flicking the gear selector from D to S? Pretty sure the Sport sound is only activated by the former, but not by the latter.

You need to compare these:

profile: normal/eco VS sport mode
gearstick: whatever (D/S/M)
revs: same

If you are in normal or eco, even if you flick it to S you should hear a difference in the same rev range compared to sport profile

Personally I like it (1.8T) and all the people I drove liked it too, havent met anyone who could tell it was an artificial sound yet, they just go "whoa that sounds great!".

i have the same as you, 1.8tsi petrol, and i can 100% tell the difference in sport mode. No idea what it sounds like outside, but i like it inside.
You do have to get into the high revs to really hear the difference though

I believe its connected to RPM points too, the DSG especially in D & Eco, keeps the rpms very low. Its sound is more apparent to me in Sport or Manual when i give it some heavy right foot and get the rpm's up.
