Sports Suspension

Hi, I've just ordered an Altea XL with the sports suspension option +17 wheels, reading a few of the threads it seems that the 17 wheels might be a bit harsh anyway, and I am a little worried this might be to stiff?
I am wondering if anyone has this sort of set up, and if they find it easy to live day to day, I do about 25K a year,
Cheers

I've only got the standard Altea,but i have this setup,its a tiny bit harsh,but i'd say bareable!
Also its a proven fact that the roads are particularly bad down here in Swansea!
Its not noticeable on a motorway! plus i came from a Citroen Xantia, which is the softest suspension bar none,so i'd say you'll be fine! :)

I have an XL with the 17" wheels but not the sports suspension.

The ride is fine, not too harsh. Not sure what the sports suspension is like, I test drove a standard car on 16s but ordered the Sports pack for the wheels & seats.

I can't see the sports suspension being too harsh, it is a family wagon after all.

Coltie.

I have the 170TDI which came with sports suspension and 17in wheels as standard. (l added the sports pack option so l had the same seats as my last Altea.) The ride is not the smoothest but is easy to live with. I do about 25,000 each year and when you are off the motorway the suspension set up just makes you smile. The only bad point is that it pi##es other drivers off because who expects a lardy beast to go round corners so well.

If you are anywhere near Swindon or Cirencester you are welcome to have a go in mine.

Craig, I got the Sport Pack on my XL and it DEFINATELY included sports suspension! Perhaps a MY08 revision?

I test drove an XL on 16s vs an XL with 17" and Sports suspension. The difference was marked. The positives being appreciable improvement in cornering at speed (you should have seen the sales guy's face!) and the negative being the drastic reduction in speed to take a speed bump comfortably (down to 15 mph from 25 mph).

Visually and for rural driving the sports pack was an easy decision for me.

Mine's an MY08. From what I remember when ordering it there were 2 prices for the sports pack, 1 without the suspension and 1 with.

I am be wrong though, either way, I like what I've got.

Hi All,

Thanks for all the advise and help, and particularly TonyL's kind offer, has definitely got me chewing at the bit to get the Altea with the sports suspension - unfortunately SEAT had other ideas and have sent my order back - Doh!

They have now stopped taking orders (from the 16th) for any new Altea's, I assume until the facelift version comes into production, hopefully they will get their act together fairly quickly with the new models and prices - just hope they don't put them up!
