Update regarding my sprayed rear lights, they are not smoked anymore, they are BLUE and look completely NAFF  .

Need to get the White Spirit out and attempt to get rid of all traces.

so does spraying the outside of the lights work?
anyone else do this successfully ?

i want to get the smoked look on the clear parts of my rear lights

I did the rears on my 220 turbo years ago and they stayed black/smoked without any probs then when i got bored with them i removed it with nail varnish remover, the spray was from "folatec" i think? or something similar

heres mine. I spraytinted them a little as they where BRIGHT red when I got them:

Thats exactly what i am after but need to do it without taking off the lights etc. Got an imperial blue cupra so am thinking the smoked look would look good.
Where did you get the tinting film?
Is it the usual window tinting film? What percentage tint did you use?

Nope, its a specific light tint film, I think its another Foliatec product. If I remember right, they do various colours and you should be able to find it at Halfords/Motorworld/Demon Tweeks etc. Its not very cheap usually but I found one that had been marked down just because the box was damaged!

That said, I can't see why you couldn't use window tint film, but I imagine you'd be stuck buying a huge roll of it...

couldnt find the tint film in halfords.

I do have four rolls of 35% window tint film (just never bothered to install as seemed to be too much effort). Just put it up against the clear bits of the lights and it looks great. I have to now smoke look those sections.
So will just applying the window tint film to the outside of the lights work?
Anyone done this before?
