Squeaky window fix?

HI all,
I've been reading your posts about sorting out squeaky windows, as mine does and I don't think it's ever gonna stop by itself. It may be a silly idea (as I haven't had a look behind the door card yet) but if the problem is caused by a frayed cable, would it make sense to get in there and wrap the frayed section in protective tape before it finally gives up the ghost? Also, has anybody already posted a 'how to dismantle the door panel guide'?
Thanks for you comments and suggestions.

Boosh.

Mine is doing this now too, anti-pinch feature kicks in, only when in direct sunlight (heats panel etc up). Seems to be different parts expanding differently and siezing the mechanis up a bit and more to the rear portion of the door.
