hi, im fitting a milltek downpipe and sports cat to my 2002 leon cupra tomorrow

i will eventually go stage 2 custom map to accomodate this, but funds a little tight at the minute...

i also have a samco t.i.p.

what i need to know is will i notice a difference from fitting the dp and cat without going stage 2 and will it throw any faults?

im also keeping standard cat back, so willthis make a difference as its the dpa nd cat thats the restrictive part?

any help much appreciated

cheers

Yes this will make quote a big difference to the torque and BHP. Even with the standard stage 1 map you will still get a nice increase as the ECU does adapt quite well.

You will feel the turbo spool up a little quicker and maybe a little extra boost spike as it will flow free'r.
The problem you face now ( as i did ) is that you are probably at around 220 bhp with stage 1 and with every mod ( excluding big turbo @ big cost ) you are not going to feel an "upgrade" as such as with the k03s turbo 240bhp is your wall , so from now on bhp per pound is very expencive.
But dont let me put you off , dig deep and it'll be worth it.

okay cheers, will it make much difference having the stock cat back?

im not after bhp figures, just a quicker spool up and responsiveness

i will eventually go stage 2 custom map to accomodate the dp and cat, along with tip, induction this should see the top end for a k03s? am i right....

i managed to get the dp and cat v.v.v.v cheap so saving for the mapshouldnt take too long

im also getting a racediagnostics custom gauge/reader etc installed so thats taking up some pennies!

The thing with an exhaust coming in 2 parts ( cat-back and dp-sports cat ) is lots of folk tend to get one then the other ( probably to do with cost me thinks ) but you need the full system in the end to feel the full benifit as you are just moving the restriction along ( but the cat is the most restrictive )

The most restrictive part is the DP and Cat, if you had to pick one or the other you've made the right choice.
I went all out and bought turbo back with a system, gotta love it.
FMIC before the stg 2 map then?

fmic, i would say so eventually, maybe when i decide to steal caveos big turbo off his motor!!!

for now, i am at stage 1 map, dp and cat, carbonio, samco tip

max out the ko3s then get bored... then big turbo me thinks

handling mods next, front upper and lower strurt
rear arb

Every turbo car should either be decatted or sports catted, the difference in response is instantly noticeable, obviously sports cat for every day use. You will certainly find it spools quicker than the standard cat.
The exhaust as a whole is restrictive, ideal solution is to change the whole system as a sports cat is still going to be strangled by the standard exhaust.
Defo agree with a front mount, charge temps will be much lower, the lower the charge temperature the better the flame front at the plugs = more power.
