Most of the Revo and APR cars that have gone onto Ricks rollers have not made the figures claimed by the software developers .

Also I would class Revo as a generic map just like superchips . They develop a map on 1 car and use the same file on hundreds of cars with little to no adjustment to allow for different engines and tolerances . I speak from experience with both the tuners I have mentioned. I don't have any experience with APR and know Ecotune up my way are highly regarded but I'll still be using Unicorn software when my warranty is up as I know the work he puts into every car he does .
I don't see why the generic map is thrown around. It's a fricking generic car, Your telling me after engine wear in at 800m when most people start to tune a car your cupra was suddenly operating better at lower temperatures and air pressure than mine was and needed tweaking to match the best performance.

Understandable a custom map for when when a car is stage 2 or above with different components being thrown on. But stage 1 really

So what's different about stage 2 mapping it's not like your changing pistons with different compression ratios or a bigger turbo.

My experience with Revo wasn't great in that with their software my golf R ran very rich at top end at stage 2 . When I went back to the place that installed the software I was told my only option was to run the low quality fuel map via my SPS tool . When I asked why as I always use 99 octane fuel I was told sorry we don't have the facility to alter the mapping on a car by car basis . I also asked why it wasn't noticed when the software was installed and was told my car wasn't run on the rollers as they don't have a 4wd rolling road. Ok so why didn't you put the car in dyno mode and run it as a fwd car "that isn't possible sir" was the reply . Load of crap from an uninterested or uneducated tech .

Has my view of Revo as a company been tainted by this yes will I use them again no.

I had a similar situation on my stage one, could only get it working low fuel map.

The garage did say that my air filter could be causing an issue but they were not sure (and i did change it to a revo one that I already had) but I spoke with Revo tech support who in turn spoke with garage and got it sorted. Went back to garage they got it working how I wanted (at no extra cost). They also do take it out for a 1/2 hour drive and do some changes for each car

However I got the feeling the garage were much happier doing Golf R and Audi S3 cars than Cupra.
But Revo as a business were very helpful and got the retailer to fix it.

I accept that its not a custom map but I am very happy with outcome and I will use them again but with a different garage.

The problem with "custom" maps are that the R&D going into those maps are the experience of the man who does it and a few hours at the most..

With the maps from one of the significant players on the market you are sure it is tested in the heights, low/high temperatures etc. and the engines are 99% generic anyway..
