My last car did 12.9 on the 1/4 mile, but more importantly, cracked almost 116mph terminal speed. A 2010 Nissan GTR makes approx 120mph on the same 1/4 mile strip with a 1.7 second 60 foot time and no wheelspin.

Povertys comment about a rolling start is spot on, and when you consider these terminal speeds, something somewhere does not add up regarding max power being 330bhp on a 2.0T K04 car.

Considering the Nissan GTR for a moment, its quite a bit heavier than a Ed30/Cupra, but to be closer to a near 500bhp car than a 300bhp car (standard MK2 Focus RS, Stage 3 Astra VXR etc etc) terminal speed wise says something about what the true power is on a tuned K04 2.0T.

By the way, I am not for a minute suggesting my old car would live with a GTR as I am in no doubt a GTR would have wiped it, but when 300bhp cars failed to get anywhere close to 110mph ET and a Nissan GTR makes 120mph ET, 116mph would suggest closer to 400bhp than 300bhp.

so 330bhp cupras are destroying new m3s and 410bhp evos in a straightline?

Granted sportec have homologated stage 2 plus engines at 323ps and 474nm torque.

Either way I dont really car what the dyno says, and 1/4 figures arent always the best indicator for speed either.

For me 30mph roll ones against other cars really puts thing into perspective as to how quick your car really is.

Totally agree and without doubt the best test for straight line speed. Only problem is there's not exactly loads of places to conduct this test legally.. I know that from experience..:ban:

Anyway, i'm going to go with the JKM results and just tell everyone that my car is around the 320-330 mark. At least it will get a bigger :-o off people

big style.

A mate in work had a Focus RS and we went out for a spin and he really couldnt lose me at all.

I told him i was only stage 2 and running about 260Hp. He didnt need to know it was more and running stage 2+. He was devastated that my 5 door family hatch back with a skoda badge and 40Hp less could keep up with him.

The amount of ripping he got on facebook was comical i quote " whats this sh!t about your RS being slower than a skoda" lol. he had it mapped that same month and wanted another go, but i said no :D ive got one up on him now, its mint

Its weird, cause a supposed 380hp FRS got beat by my stock TTRS by a whisker, and waynes stage 2 plus car pulls a car length on both.

Then also my mate with his 350hp factory upgrade FRS had a go against my then stock TT RS and the TT was pulling away from that aswell.

All the above is interesting but we appear to have over looked some thing rather shocking 'Al has boufht a F/L cupra with a btcc bodykit!!! How can this be? Some form of mid life crisis going for the boy racer look!!

i heard he's put a K1 badge on the back

I think though the torque that these engines make when modded in conjunction with 300+bhp is a lot to do with how quick they are giving the impression they have more HP than they actually have making the car act like a slingshot IMO

I agree with what Al says.

*for others, this has remained a mature discussion without reference to any street racing. Please can we keep it this way. :)

but a modded focus RS has more torque!

Power makes speed though mate - torque is how quick it gets there.

Thought it was more like 350 -360lb/ft?

Yeah thinking about it you might be right. Think I was getting 330lbft on just stage 1. Either way the FRS has quite a bit more torque.

480nm of the k04 vs 520nm of the frs.
