hey everyone. i was just wondering if the standard mk5 head unit will be able to have a sub and amp (other half keeps saying it isnt bassy enough) plugged into it.

Unless you use a high level adaptor (converts speaker output to pre-amp signal ) - I dont think you can.

From the pictures i have seen of the connector block - there are no pre-out terminals to drive an amp.
 
whould i just be able to wire a sub in then without the amp? im rubbish with things like this.

Not really - the main thing that makes a sub go low and loud is power.

Std head unit does not have enough power for a sub.

You could dynamat the interior of the car to increase the bass levels.

You could put one under each seat !!!!
 
I'd take it to a specialist and get it fitted properly - it sounds as if you don't really know what your doing and will bodge it up....just saying...
