All,

I have recently brought an '06 LCR with standard Aura Headunit but no CD changer (ie no 6 CD stack in the glovebox).

I brought a connects2 adapter (CTVSTX001) which is supposed to fit into the back of the headunit to connect an ipod / iphone etc.

However, the connector supplied does not fit in any of the three ports on the back of the headunit I have. The connector is too large.

As my car did not come with a CD changer, is the headunit different? ie, is it missing a port and therefore this connects2 adapter will not work?

Thanks for the help in advance

Nick

I had one of these myself and it worked fine. Got it off eBay for £40 brand new. Should be a black box and the connector should be light blue IIRC? If its not then you may have the wrong interface bud.

Hi,

Ok thanks for the replies.

I brought this off a company on ebay (oh dear!). The adapter I received is basically this:

http://www.connects2.co.uk/ProductInformation.aspx?id=11933&p=CTASTIPOD001.2

White connects2 box, same adapter cable. (This is the same as in your link Molehill_Mike)

Hopefully they have sent me the wrong one, though from the link above it should fit the mk1 leon?

Do I need the CTVSTX002 for the leon too?

Thanks

Mine looked like the one in this link - http://bit.ly/1bomrnd

It plugged into one side of the CD changer port and that was it. Needed nothing extra, though mine only cost about £40. Can't understand the price discrepancy???

I had this problem when I got an mp3 adaptor for my old Aura unit. The company assumes you're replacing an existing CD changer, so don't give you every wire you need. **** move, I know...

You need this:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VW-M-Bus-...S_In_Car_Audio_Players_PP&hash=item3cb564e5ef

The black connector plugs into the big black connector you have, and the blue bit plugs into the headunit, on (from memory) the right hand side of the bottom socket on the headunit, as you look at it from the rear :) HTH

Edit: don't get that exact item, the cable is ridiculously long - no one will ever need a 15ft cable....

Randomage, ok great thank you. This connector does look like it will do the job.

I was starting to struggle for what connector I actually needed to ask for from the original company I ordered from, now I'm more certain with your response.

Thanks everyone for the help,

Hi,
Right this old topic again... I have now got round to fitting this connects2 adapter, but where have other Mk1 Leon owners harnessed the earth to? I cant see an 'easy' place to attach this to behind the radio.

The earth cable is only 20cm long max.

Thanks
Nick

Strange, mine had the blue connector fitted to it plus a couple of blanks to fit the hole where the changer was plugged in.

To earth it I slackened one of the screws that hold the head unit together, stripped the wire back a little bit and attached it round that screw. Worked fine but eventually the wire started breaking up due to being crushed so I put an earth tab thing on (no idea what its actually called, just a little copper strip with a hole to put a screw through and another one to poke the wire through) and its been fine ever since.

ETA think its called a crimp tab terminal.

The PO of mine bought one of them tapes with a wire and jack coming off of it so I use my phone through the tape deck. As simple as it is, I was well impressed with that. I'd never seen it before
