I’m in need of some proper advice from anyone who’s dealt with cross-compatibility between gearboxes, flywheels, and starter motors.
Here’s my setup:
I’ve tried a few starters already (including 0AH 911 023 F and 02T 911 023 K/M/N) — but they either:
The original clutch and flywheel were from the LNY gearbox setup, and the flywheel was reused. Everything fits and runs great — I just can’t find a matching 13-tooth starter that bolts to the NBW.
What I’m asking:
Really stuck here, and appreciate any help you can offer.

- Engine: 1.2 TSI CBZB
- Gearbox: NBW (5-speed manual)
- Flywheel: 03G 105 271 D (solid, 110-tooth)
- Starter required: 13-tooth, but must bolt to NBW gearbox
I’ve tried a few starters already (including 0AH 911 023 F and 02T 911 023 K/M/N) — but they either:
- Don’t physically bolt to the NBW bellhousing
- Or they have 10 teeth and don’t engage with my 110-tooth flywheel properly
