My Mk1 Leon 130tdi is having starting trouble, runs perfect when started. I noticed I was not getting the squelch sound from the back when I switched it on and on taking the pipe off the fuel filter only a dribble of fuel came out when ignition was switched on, the pump is buzzing and I've got 12 volt across the wires to it for the couple of seconds before the relay trips back off. I've also put a live feed onto the pump connections and get the same. So I put a 2nd hand pump in and it went squelch and started immediately, the 1st time, now it just buzzes and won't start again. what else is likely stopping it doing it's job? any suggestions?

It's already had glow plugs, coolant temp switch, harness to the injectors and a new starter motor trying to cure it.

Earths seemed good wherever I looked. It would start and run a couple of seconds with easystart, then after a couple of goes of that it would keep running. Still runs sweet when it's going. So drove it to a VW specialist in Bristol. PC motors. Got everything crossed....

Car is now starting fine, the VCDS pointed at the 109 relay being intermitent and an air valve on the bulkhead that has something to do with the throttle butterfly. They changed these and I had it back in less time than they estimated at less cost than they estimated (£105)!!! PC Motors (not to be confused with PD motors next door) Elm Rd, Horfield, Bristol. Full marks so far.

Have not had cause to visit them again but they were friendly, helpful and busy with only vw group cars in there.
