Hi, i have a CUPRA TDI 06 and i am haveing difficulties staring it when the engine is wram.

Cold starts are fine but if i go for say a 10 mile drive, leave the car and then try to start it it will just crank over and not start. after repeated continuous attempts it will finally start.

I have replaced the glow plug and there appears to be no voltage issues.

Any ideas what it may be??

Thanks!

ideally vag com but you could try an ohhmeter on the water temp sender I think the resistance goes up when hot -- should output approx 1.5v double check elswhere first they have been known to read right at hot and cold but go haywire in the mid range

No faults logged. From further research i am directed towards the camshaft position sensor or coolant water tempreature sensor.

Will call dealers for prices for these tomorrow.

I had this problem with a MK4 golf.

A Coolant Temp Sensor later and all was fixed. Hopefully yours is the same.

hi mate, had the exact problem on a passat tdi 130bhp. . i had both the coolant temp sensor and crank sensor done. obviously your car may be different but i would personally get the temp sensor changed and fill it up with fresh deisel and hopefully should work. good luck.
