just been out to take my eldest home.. took the Mk2 *havent driven it for close on a week* damn thing almost 'died' on me on the way home twice even under acceleration.. than as I was turning round in the close where I live ,it did cut out twice. Theres betwen 1/4 and 1/2 a tank of fuel, so its not like im running on vapours..

anyone had this problem? looks like I may well be getting oily hands on my next day off..

yer had it before on a toledo and mk2 ibiza the sender unit is reading incorrect because it gets stuck. basically the car has problably run out of fuel.

2 other posibilities ive had before are 1 fuel pump itself or 2 fuel pump relay is duff

thinking it *may* be something to do with the damp.. as said, I havent touched it in almost a week and we've had some bloody rain in that time ..
might get out there and whip the dizzy off and clean/dry it all if I get home before dark tomorrow
:)

Bloody rain. Can tell the car 'is Spanish!' Well in name anyway. I'm about to change my dizzy cap, but it's definitely worth spraying over with WD40. I've had a problem starting in the rain because water found its way to the ECU connector, which I solved with a tough plastic bag, great technical modification there!!! Fine since.

came home , needed to pop up to pay phone-bill , jumped in car, started first time, and no struggling/ juddering at all.. hopefully was just a case of damp in the dizzy (or wherever) and me not having even ticked it over for best part of a week

*crosses fingers*

Hopefully it's '1 of those things...' I'd still check the ECU connector though, just to be on the safe side, only takes 5 mins to check. I had similiar symptoms, and like I said, mine is fine now.

I suppose checking it saves forking out for a new ECU. Not that it is that though, obviously.

If I knew where in the world he is now, I possibly could... and last time I tried to contact the garage that had done most of the previous work they were right snotty, so I dont wanna really be asking them
will stick it and a few other checks on the 'to do' list of jobs before spring gets here..
:)

Ah, fair enough. I hate car garages with a passion. Unless they fix something I can't find, obviously!!

as and when i get t do anything to it, i'll stick up a 'how to' kinda thing up if its of any use to anyone?

Yeah, do it mate, every little helps! (Used to work for Tesco when I was 16!! ;))

my 8v was doing this about a month back. fished out the FP relay & swapped it with one of my spare fuseboxes & it's all good now (touches wood)
