Morning all.

Got in my car this morning and noticed a little condensation on the nearside of my front screen.
Im assuming its the pollen filter housing gasget.

Now, i can order a new one from TPS but ive got some butyl tape left over from when i did a front door regulator.
Would this be ok to use or should i get the proper gasget?
Not being tight and happy to buy a gasget but will the butyl do?
Want to do the job just the once.

Cheers all

Rich

Ill just replace it.
The seal between the cabin filter housing and car body is where i suspect the leak is (under the filter).

It's also worth inspecting the scuttle tray and pollen filter access panel are located properly as the rubber flange underneath regularly folds backwards on installation causing the rain to pour onto the paper filter and eventually into the car.

Ive had a look buy no time to fix this problem today.

Erm, its had a lairy stereo in it at some point. And someone had the live cable from the battery running straight under the housing!
And i mean filter housing removed, the live cable running straight across the centre of the big hole and the housing screwed down on top of it!
Luckily it had been disconnected before i bought the car.
Going to address it next weekend if i get a minute to myself.

Rich

P.S the filter is dry.
