Well we are all allowed a bit a success now and again! Just remember that they need to use the correct VAG steering fluid! Any warning lights that might be on should switch off within 6 or so engine starts.

Thanks to all that helped. It took only an hour to fit and do and works like a dream! Apparently when they took the old pump out it had no fluid so it must of been totally screwed as it got topped on the service. Anyway so nice to have power steering back.

Good result - hope it stays that way for a few years - I'd keep an eye on that fluid level for a few weeks though - just in case (!!) or just in case there is still air in the system that should get driven out with use and need replacing with some fluid.
