Steering Sticking/Jumping

Hi new to the forum and have Searched but cant see a problem same as I have

Near the mid point of the steering it is very difficult to control, it sticks so you have to correct but then jumps a half inch in the opposite direction and I spend my time at 70 struggling to stay in a lane

It also makes a loud click which I can hear over the sound of the engine at high speeds

It feels sometimes like an electric motor pulling and skipping a certain point

I'd get that looked at straight away. Could be anything really. Something stupid like a control arm bush. Or something worse like the steering rack. I've had a control arm bush crumble before and the bolt drop out. But it was almost impossible to keep the car straight at any speed. It'd pop and the steering would jump.

Well thing is I did take it in, they claimed no issue, and that another car similar age has same “characteristic”

However... does it only happen at high speeds? Could be a fault with the electric power steering. Because it's supposed to stiffen at higher speeds. Also depends how fast they were going when they tested it.

Happens from standstill as well, gonna take it another garage, just really thinking I’m getting the fob off, they defo wouldn’t have taken it up to motorway speeds to realise what a big deal it is

Isn't this a warranty issue? Write/mail to Seat UK and tell them about it. Tell them that he dealer has sent you away with a faulty car and that it it hard to control at high speed. Point out that, as you have informed them of the issue and asked them to fix it, should you be in an accident they are likely to be found liable.
