Steering wheel controls and horn stopped working

Hi,

I have a 57 plate Leon with the steering wheel audio/telephone controls but they have all stopped working including the horn.

The fact that the horn has stopped working too makes me think it is a connecter in the steering column housing.

I've checked fuses without luck.

Has anyone experienced this and how did you fix it?

If not, how do I remove the housing for a quick look. Otherwise it'll have to go back to the dealer.

Yes several people here have had this issue.

It'll be 1 of 2 things.
1) the cable connecting the controls to the rest of the car has come loose.
2) the control module has failed and needs replacing by the dealer under warranty

Do a search, and you will find the details you require

same thing happened to me. leon tdi sport (06). took it to the dealer who replaced the control modules on the steering wheel under warranty.

just found this too http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/showthread.php?t=134390 so it looks like it's off to the dealer.

Given the horn isn't working it's not road legal so I guess they'll have to come and collect it.

Never used Seat warrantee before - do they provide a courtesy car for warrantee work?

Courtesy cars can be a bit hit and miss in my experience. The two dealers I have used provided one if I gave enough notice, I know other people have had issues at times.

Quick update. Car needs a new steering wheel. On order, should be fixed this week.

It seems there's a few things can cause this (froom the different replies). It happened on my other half's 57 Stylance not long after she got it. The job sheet said they'd replaced a "clock spring". No idea what that meant and neither did the dealer. I wonder if it's a case of how far they are willing to look into it (and if it's necessary as it's under warranty) to find just one small part or replace a whole unit.
