Numpty alert

I've had a partial success on this...:D

The left hand side buttons were sticking so thought I'd go get the can and give it a squirt and see what happens. Was very careful had loads of cloths around to catch any overspray and started gently spraying. With a combination of sprays and prods it seemed to free up the a/c button and auto button so left it to dry and gave it another blast after a while. :D

The second attempt did the same and maybe got a little more enthusiastic with the spray and now the temp down button doesn't do anything and the stickiness seems to have re-appeared  What I'm thinking is that I've dislodged whatever gunk was in there and redeposited it :cartman:

Now the plan is to take the unit out of the dash and give it a damn good going over (possibly even take the f'ker apart???) and see what that does... But as a back up I'm waiting for some quotes off scrappies!!!

So all in all :censored:!!!

Right, just got back from re-fitting the control unit... success(ish!) easily pulled the controller out of the dash, three screws on the back of the controller to undo it all then a load of little 5.5 torq screws hold the PCB/screen into the front. Undid them and pulled the PCB, rubber button membrane leapt out!!! Wait for it ;) Removed and washed the buttons in fairy, dried with Mrs hairdryer then took to the surround with t'brush and fairy and more dryer action...

Came to put it together and the rubber membrane was about 1.5 times the width of the unit [:@] so did a bit of a bodge and got it jammed back together:D So went out and plugged it all back in and guess what.... it works :funk:

YIPPEEE!!! Call off the scrappies!!![B)]
