Hey,
I Have noticed that sometimes, and more specifically after coming out of a right hand turn (i do Autocross occasionally) my clutch pedal gets stuck down and I have to push it up with my leg or it would come back in a 1 or 2 secs of taking my foot off.. This occures a lot more during autocross and I have no other signs of clutch wear (no slipping at all).
Master cylinder already been replaced and fluid been flushed twice.
problem is still there..
Read on some other forums that a crankshaft end play could cause a problem such as this, has anyone over here experienced the same?
if it is the crankshaft, its a very expensive fix and I'm hoping not to go into that route!

Cheers

doesnt seem like a seal issue as theres no leak at all.
been doing a lot of reading, there has been definately a few cases where a whole engine had to be replaced due to the above, the crank free play seems to have been the cause of issue for all those who have this when coming out of a right hand corner

Why when there is a issue, everybody thinks of the worst?
had the same issue, the clutch pedal has a spring and a push mechanism that WILL get stuck over time because of the dust. It is also slightly lubricated so... dust and stuff will stick.

Use something soft and long to clean it as best as u can, and than use a silicon grease spay (not simple grease!) - I use S-97 but anything goes.

If it won't fix it, than u can think of something 'deeper'.
Cheers.

well the fact that my car does it ONLY after coming out of a hard right corner, there is no problem in every other kind of driving condition, it specifically happens after a right corner, which means its related to the same issue a few others had with a crankshaft free play exceeding the allowable.

Yes, i have same issue on my cupra. I know another that does the same.

I really dont think is cranksaft issue as does it from new and only on hard turms. I think might be related to design issue of the master cylinder?

Hmmm, will go by your suggestion, could you please explain which part I should lubricate? I'm not that technical so any help on this would be appreciated!
Cheers

Hi, it is a little hard to explain without a photo and I don't see any ways of adding a picture here... :(

Hello,

Thanks for your reply.

Yesterday I was able to get under the clutch pedal.

I could see the spring.

I had the bad idea to remove the shaft of the pedal, in order to remove it and be able to acess to the spring.

It is really painfull to put it back again!! Specially because spring pushes back the pedal and there is no space for the arms. Also the fact that your back will be exposed while you are at it so better double check there is no one behind:banned:

The question is, the spring looks very simple, in my case it is just a spring. What should I do with it?

Thanks.

Oh man... what to say... don't start things if you are not prepared/informed! First thing ,get a service manual, some you can find online, even for free!
2nd, DO NOT REMOVE ANYTHING! - you were supposed to lubricate it/cleaning on site, without removing the whole pedal :)

Use a spay as I mentioned, but first, put everything back the way it was!

If at ANY point you are unsure of what you are doing, leave it to a professional!

Of course, it is back in place and working correctly but if not removing pedal access to the spring is really narrow at least on the Cupra.

Yes, I know it is a tight space, but it can be done! (not that it is not better to remove and do a better cleaning, but it may be a pain in the a** like you said).

Yes, it is the spring, the simple one and also, there is a push white plastic. I've cleaned them using some ear sticks soaked in car cleaning solution, and it took me some time (20min) because I didn't wand that some of the dirt to go even deeper so... Than I used the spay lubricate-it (spay hat a long pipe so it made thing easy). If there was an easy way on the site to post pictures, I could have shown more...

Anyway, How is everything now ?
