Stiff gear change at high RPM

Only noticed this since having the gear linkage repaired. When at high revs ie over 4000rpm the gear change goes stiff and inacurate and has meant i have missed gears and narrowly avoided getting humiliated by a C2 VTS.

I am not ragging it, but i have a performance car to enjoy it and i was wondering if any Cordy or 16v owners had experience of this and how to cure it.

Maybe an oil change would help? It's the only thing that springs to mind, and may not help.

If there is no crunching or noise i would check the the linkage is all aligned correctly.

I have a Cordoba sdi that doesn't shift at high rpm either. I used to enjoy riding my old tdi on a roundabout in third gear, throwing it into second and then flooring it to exit the roundabout. Whenever I do this with my sdi, it just won't go into second if I'm still riding fast. Could this be the same problem? If so, would an oil change help?
