right i get the car back today ready to take it for its retest, get it to the place hand it over then 5 mins later the guy shouts me to come look at something...

he goes right you've sorted the light, the welding, not checked your emssions yet but the track rod hasn't been done can you see where my yellow chalk is... he said you've changed something else (the bit that holds your anti-roll bar aka DRAG LINK END BALL JOINT)

but not the track rod so you've got another 5 days to sort it out....

SO WHY IN THE HELL DO YOU PUT ON THE MOT FAILURE SHEET "OFFSIDE FRONT DRAG LINK END BALL JOINT" WHENS ITS THE PISSING TRACK ROD THAT NEEDS REPLACING!!!!!!

im absolutely fuming, replaced something that never needed changing!

NEVER EVER GOING TO KWIK FIT AGAIN!

KWIK FIT. says it all.

its a drop link btw ;) mk2 golf ones fit piece of piss and cost 8 quid from euros. and take 5 mins to put on.

get your tracking done, when they take the old track rod end off it will knock tracking out!

Kwik Fit are total bandits, surely you could have grounds for complaint there?, you changed the bit THEY put on the fail sheet but yet its the wrong bit?? Hmmm incompetance springs to mind, ring thier head office see what they say....

Ads vag,
read my first post in your other section. you could have saved yourself from this lol :)

I had a free mot at kwik fit for my old Mondeo so I took it after I gave it a full mot check (I'm a techie) they failed it on loads of bulbs that weren't out and advised my tyres close to the limit ( they were 4mm). Total cowboys!!

To be honest you should have checked with them what they meant. As the mot system is an arse to find the right names for stuff.

we've found out what it is mate lol it isn't the track rod, its the track rod end (the knuckle closest to the drive shaft had slight play init...) the garage think kwik fit are being harsh and pathetic, cause they've known track rod ends with a hell of alot more play that have passed.

i did ask him and all he said was what it exactly said on the Mot sheet....

Hi Ads_Vag,

Please could you PM us a telephone number? We'd like to speak to you about your experience.

Kind regards,
Gerry

I went to kwikfit to get the tracking done and ended up with a torn boot and a knackered rack but how do you prove it?

I had same thing happen to me, but kwik fit burnt through my driveshaft gaitor, wen they did yracking on my car, useless set of c***s!!!!!!!

Well I've done the rack £180 and I've put on a second hand pump, the problem was that I had a big puddle up the road to my house so dirty water got straight in and circulated around the whole system. After I done all that I went to another one of these sort of places but they were just as bad, brand new tie rods and their at it with vice grips ffs, 13mm spanner fits straight on, I don't need the whole thing chewed up and I even had to remind them to untwist the boots, I checked it when I got home and one of the boots was off on the inside! Just as well I checked it over. I'm never going to any of them, it's cheaper to kill the tyres with duff tracking and replace them instead, chalk and a ruler I think from now on.

If it ain't made of rubber and sits on a wheel, don't trust Krook Fit with it!

Years ago they attempted to change the front shocks on my Vauxhall, clearly using brute force and a lump hammer to bend everything into place. Left me with awful handling problems and my mechanic said we'd never get the mountings back straight again. Eventually got a pathetic payment from KF, but not much compensation for what I had to live with.
:(

unlucky pal :(.... well i went today for retest passed everything bar the bloody emissions again!! :( but when i told the guy behind the desk about what happened with my garage replacing something completely different to what was said on the sheet... he said he's going to speak to the guy who did my M.o.t plus re-inburse me on the parts and labor i had to replace which didn't need changing...
