if its a cupra the standard is around 0.6 bar or 9-10 psi, the standard boost in a cupra r is around 0.9 or 12-13 psi, upping the boost can be done sure but not enough to notice much benefit with out a remap! The ecu which controlls many things including boost pressure will kick the car into limp mode if it detects a significant rise in pressure outside its programmed parameters, it basically thinks there is a boost leak and in order to protect the turbo and engine it cuts power out to a minimum! There are other ways to improve performance slightly with a few basic mods, search on here for n249 bypass and DV's etc! There are good guides here to improve performance that you can do yourself at home, but if your not handy under the bonnet DO NOT attempt to do it yourself!

if your wanting bhp without the remap, your looking at a 3" decat to a decent cat back, an oversize turbo intake and decent flowing filter with some cold air getting to it, fmic will be pointless for a non mapped car as itll just cause lag.

the standard reciculating valves on these cars are good upto 30psi i think so leave that for now, oil and filter change, plugs and give the coolant a change too seeing as its cheap, just to make sure the cars in tip top shape

There is no definite answer to that buddy, with the mods you listed you could certainly expect a notible increase in power of maybe 10-15bhp, on stock! But people will have conflicting opinions on this some will say less some will say more, bottom line for me is if you want more power get it remapped once you have the mods done! A quick search on here will give you everything you need to know about what manufactures to look to for upgrades, most guys who have big mods have them listed along with the power they have their cars uo too on their profile! Just copy one!lol

You can stage 1 remap a standard cupra r to 260-270 bhp that's if your car is a cupra r? You don't need bigger injectors, just make sure your engine is in good condition as said above! Obviously if your car is a standard cupra 180 you will need some extra mods! Along with the remap!

250 id say these days is optimistic, these cars and turbos are getting on for 10+ years old, altho that said the big tuners have pushed the k03s massively now and can extract everything out of it.

just depends if youve got a good one

if its a fresh start and i was to do it all again id go

check and renew / upgrade, pcv / intercooler and vacuum system (factory pcv pipes are prone to splits and snaps)

make sure your dv is the latest revision

SERVICE new oil, filter plugs, air filter. depending on year check with your dealer to see if your eligable for the coilpack recall

once you know your car is air tight and freshly serviced, start modding

a stage 1 remap can be done on a car with ZERO mods (airfilter is recommended i think) this alone changes the way the car drives much, +30bhp just from stage one and transforms the way the car pulls.

Azza has pretty much got it there! The mk1s are getting old and as such become less and less modifiable, but with a few quid and a bit of tlc you can certainly achieve a good power increase! Or you can bite the bullet and upgrade the whole damn thing to an 'R' lol

The cupra 1.8t is all completely stranded apart from a updated recirculation valve
And it had a full service just b4 I had it.

So my plane would be cambelt and water pump change an then change all sh*ty stock pipes then go from there

Upgrade to the R would be a better idea and it looks better to lol or just a engine swap over lol
