We have a 2007/57 Leon FR TDi and just recently upon opening the car with the remote fob the drivers door sometimes fails to open, the rest of the doors do fine, it locks with no fault:blink:

My O/S rear door does this too sometimes. I'm thinking it might be the lock solenoid has a intermittent fault!

How very odd, mine started doing this last week.

It will open every time with the key in the door, and from the inside.

maybe like suggestions above its the solonoid. i wonder how hard it is to replace. I hope its not a door card off job.

Just had mine done. Was drivers door lock mechanism. Mine was intermitent then stopped working altogether. Would unlock fine from key. No amount of wd40 or banging of door will stop an intermitant problem. Either replace or take apart old unit and resolder connection on the pcb board. Mind opening up locking mechanism is can of worms. Just replace.

Its 1P2837016. Dave at Sere could probably get it at a better price. I just didnt fancy pulling the door apart as I know it wouldnt have gone back together as before.

It's called a lock mechanism on eBay just make sure it's an 1p one and for the correct door. My passenger went a while back and this week my drivers side. It's from rain getting in it apparently.

Might have to get mine done now, its happening more and more.

The one strange thing i dont understand... maybe someone can help here.. It will lock EVERY time, but usually wont unlock. if the machanism isnt working, why will it lock but not unlock?

Yep exactly what was happening to me before I replaced the unit. If your really keen its only a broken joint on the pcb but depnds how adventurous you want to be. It is much easier to replace with complete new locking mechanism. The unit is sealed with a silicone sealant to stop any water ingress but with doors being shut heavily after a while the solder joints give way.
