Strange noise when low on fuel.....

When my LCR's low fuel warning comes on, I have noticed a strange noise coming from the rear of the car.

I presume its something to do with the fuel tank. It can only be heard when the car is ticking over. Its like a clunking noise. Sort of like fuel sloshing around but it won't stop.

What is it?

is that as soon as the light comes on? or a while after?

the obvious answer is that you are low on fuel and the fuel pump is struggling.

although im not sure fuel sloshing around would make a klonk sound!

i had a 5 turbo used to do that but it wouldnt pull at high revs due to lack of fuel but would run for ages normal driving.

Nothing to fear (hope not).

Exact same symptoms cause I always drive on low on fuel.

Basicaly warning light comes on then I still drive around for another 7-10m.
The fuel is just sloshing around (big time) while parked-up

Hope it doesn't cause any fuel/line/pump failure- yikes!!

Bit stupid not re-fueling but thats my lazy side!
