strange noise

Hi guys, just signed up to this website to see if anyone can help me. I have a 1.6 leon s on a 51 plate and when accelerating im getting a strange noise in mid to high revs only in 1st and 2nd gear. Its like a misfire I think but cant be positive. Have been told it may be the cat but I hope not. It's like a wum wum wum noise but goes away after 2nd and doesnt do it if I slowly accelerate. Sorry its not the best of descriptions. It seems like its coming from the passenger side.

It only seema to happen when engine has warmed up.

Hi and welcome to the forum!

Is the only sign of a fault the noise you describe? Any hesitation, loss of power?
Are there any lights / warning signs on the instrument panel?

Could you post a video to somewhere to give us a better idea?
