Luckily this hasn't happened to my cupra, but my old 106 which i have kept half out of sentimental value....and half out of going to sell it to my brother!

I don't really know how to describe my problem, but i'll try. The car hasn't been used for ages except fo every now n then being started and the occasional wash as it sits on the drive. The rest of the time it ws kept under a car cover as its parked near a tree and wanted to keep bird s*it off it!

Anyways onto the problem, the car cover blew off the other day and when i went to put it back on i noticed big faded patches of paint... its metalic red in colour but these patches are very light pink. They kind of look like water stains, however they do not wipe off and on close inspection looks like the laquer is undamaged.

My dad suggested that perhaps with the ammount of rain followed by really hot days we have had recently...that maybe some water had got under the cover n the "boiled" off in the heat or someting.

I know its dificult to advise witout pictures, but is it a respray or any other options? any ideas what could of caused it?

we tryed T-cut with no progress:confused:

If the pigment has faded under the clearcoat, you can't correct it apart from a respray. Red and Yellow are the worst affected colours. I don't think your Dad's theory is likely to be very realistic!

he was just thinking "outside the box" thing is the car is 10 years old, has never had problem with fading paint, and has spent the best of a year covered up? before it was last covered it had a good clean and then a wax aswell

tryed a t cut but didn't work, had my mate who is a panel beater have a look at it and he thinks its gonna need respraying. Said it was prob cause by water getting under the car cover! Pretty sh*t to think i had the cover on to protect it, and its had such a negative effect!

Thanks for your help tho guys

I've just sold the misses M-Reg 106 that started life as Metalic Red...

Bonnet & Boot both faded right out to a nice Pink / Rose colour.

Have a feeling it's something to do with the Pug's paint, plus the age of the car...
