ok noticed something today that i never have before ,not sure if this is normal or not .
when i was parking today at very slow speeds i can feel something through the steering wheel a bit like the vibrations that the assist gives ,its hard to explain,if i sit with the wheel straight ,engine running i can can turn it left or right and only feel it when i turn a certain amount, turning with just small degrees of movement i cannot feel it but when you turn the wheel at a greater degree its noticable not bad but it's there i'm surprised i've never noticed it until today nearly 3 months of owning it ,unless its a fault .
tried it all modes stays the same ,you cannot notice it in normal driving just when say reversing into a parking spot. i noticed it today when reversing out my drive.

can any owners especially vz2 owners check next time you get in them please ,i have a feeling they are all the same but to put my mind at ease i need some confirmation...

Had VZ and now V2 and nothing experienced like you say. The steering is electric so could be control unit, pump or simply a valve in the rack. OR maybe the lane assist is having a moment and it’s all linked to that. Book it in mate and hopefully they figure it out.

If your anything like me you’d notice any slight changes, so if you didn’t feel it a week or two ago, then it can’t be right!

yes your correct just nipped out to the car when sat with engine on turn the wheel its like a light vibration as you turn it ..thanks the the swift reply.

I don’t so much feel a vibration but the steering has a sort of screeching sound at certain angles when manoeuvring. I notice it occasionally.

so had an interesting conversation this afternoon with a service tech at dm keith york .i told him about the strange feeling in the wheel I noticed ,he said he had not heard of it so went out to a formentor waiting to have a pdi .he rang me back and told me he could feel what i described, he said it was like lots of tiny soft notches, and this I thought was a great way of describing it .so tomorrow i am going to try my sons cupra leon as the tech also said the steering rack was the same as mine.so anyone can start the car and slowly move the wheel left to right see if you can feel this sensation...appreciate your time..(y)

Yep. I have a VZ2 and when reserving off the drive, then turning into the road at very low speed, I feel a slight vibration. It’s almost as if the tyre has run over something or loose gravel when turning (best I can describe).

So once again I tried mine in all sorts of positions/speeds/directions and I confirm there are no vibrations/twitching etc from mine.
My car is a a MY22 1.5 V2, not sure if that’s relevant. My steering wheel vibration is deactivated and didn’t feel any different when it was activated.

update.travelled to a dealer today tried 2 formentors vz2 and a vz3 both super smooth so my car is now booked in .
techie never felt anything like it before so he did say expect a marathon to fix.......:( it goes in on the 20th Dec.

Didn't think it would be normal mate, keep us posted and hopefully easily sorted.

ok so car been in a couple of days i collect it back tomorrow, they admit it feels a bit different to the cars they have and are awaiting instructions from cupra ,if they change the steering motor its part of the steering column and the parts are £2300 ....but it may not be that ,also it does not do it when they have on a lift and wheels have no load.also said he could feel it slightly when touching the tyres when someone else was turning the wheel.
i said is it safe he said yes ,,i also said rather than ripping out steering columns ect i would leave unless it gets a lot worse ......lets wait to see what cupra say. i wish i had kept my M240i lol 3 years nothing at all wrong not even an infotainment glitch.... we live and learn..anyway only 20 months and it's going ...:p

Seen a White 71 plate M235i today and the daughter was commenting on it, things like “oooh that’s nice, that’s more you dad”

The more I stared the more I was thinking I want one.
