Hi there.

Can anyone recommend a tyre with the following profile 225/45/r17 - I currently have a shite budget brand accelera alpha in the same profile - however the wall of the tyre looks massive even though it's a 45 profile - they are very rounded if that makes sense and not square faced. I hope someone knows what I'm getting at here. Once my tyre dressing where's off the tyre wall looks huge against my fr+ alloys.

I think i know what you mean ......... ive got a pair of Hankook Ventus v12's on the front of my Leon Cupra. They are 225/45/17 in size. I had a puncture on the rear and got a good offer on a Goodyear Eagle F1 so had that fitted.
Although they are both the same size the side wall on the Goodyear looks a lot bigger compared to the Hankooks.

The Hankooks seem like a good tyre .......They were on about 5mm when i got the car and have survived 14,000 miles including a 2000 mile round trip to the Ring last May......
Got a great deal on the Goodyears though so they will be replacing the Hankooks soon.
I've got a couple of the Eagle F1's going spare if any one wanted to make me an offer!!

Michelin Pilot Sport 3's.

Awesome tyre, the sidewalls are 'square' and also give some rim protection, so if you brush your wheel against a kerb you wont kerb your alloy's.

Recently bought 2 from Costco for £111 each inc VAT fitted/balanced etc in that size for my car - 225/45/17

For comparison, these are £168 ish fitted at Kwik fit/National tyres et al, so a massive saving over hight street prices
