strange whine when reversing

when i reverse i get a wierd loud whine sounds like its coming from the back of the car. i cant really describe how it sounds. just wondering if any one else gets this and they no what it is... cheers

thats what i was thinking as i heard that the vauxhall corsa 1.8 with rear discs make the noise as well. what ever it is its loud and kinda imbarrising when theres people around

There is a 'fix' of sorts - I use the inverted commas as its more of a bodge to be honest where the stealers hang weights on the brakes to try and stop the squealing - not entirely sure where tbh - I'm sure a search would reveal all
