Stripped trackcar project thread?

Hi Guys

My on/off love affair with the Cupra has taken another positive swing, so I would like to do some research on just how much can be saved whilst keeping it legal, but also, I need some inspiration in the form of someone else's project thread.

I have had a search through this forum looking for stripped mk1 Leon's, proper seats, steering wheel, no interior bar the dash etc and have found nothing. (Willie's car still retains standard seats I think?)

Anyway, if anyone knows of any links, projects or details of any mk1 Leon's, please let me know

Anything you can take that gives a better idea of the interior (front and rear) would be great. Any idea of how much weight you've saved by removing the other bits and OE seats? Did you buy subframes from Corbeau?

Seats weigh loads have no idea how much tho , my new seats are bolted direct to the floor Altho getting brackets welded in soon

That's great, thank you. Some people recommend crossing the straps instead of running them straight up through the seat. A race scrutineer first told me years ago but TRS may say different. I've done both over the years and never had any dramas, despite the odd bump

With the fire extinguished in there I presume you use the car for track days or Ring trips?

That's was the plan until two people crashed into me so now it's being fixed , I've got rid of the harnesses getting orange Luke ones , I plan to get an omp cage but want the car back 1st

Can anyone confirm whether I can remove the aircon system and retain the heating/blowers for the screen? I was hoping that these were separate systems, so that I could keep it legal but save a load of weight

You can just remove the AC piping & compressor & it'll still blow warm air

Yes I have no air con all you need is an aux belt from a non turbo golf 1.8 mk4

I have read Willie's thread a few times, and I'll agree it is excellent No idea about his weight reduction though or did I miss that? (In terms of quoted Kgs lost)

Hahahah it was tempory lol , welded frames are being put in soon as the cars back and I need that cage it's ****

I know what you mean, I very nearly bolted mine to the floor, but thought better of it in the end.

I welded in cross rails to FIA spec, min 40cm² 3mm steel plates on each end. same for the tunnel side harness mounts.
