Anyone installed a Subwoofer in the boot?
I could do with knowin if the standard headunit on the new leon has PRE-OUTs?
And also how easy it'll be to get to the wiring for power?

any help would be cracking taa..

Hi, I have sold 3 SEAT Leons fully loaded with ICE!! The power source comes directly from the battery. I use a local ICE specialist, dont fit the equipment myself (too technical), they use some kind of adaptor to link up the sub pre-outs. They are closed now, but will phone them tomorrow for you and put your answer on here for you. The Leon is awesome for ICE! Speak to you tomorrow....

Some cheaper but high power amps have Low level and Hi level input, you can use RCA style pre out cables for the best sound but as bass is very low frequency its signal strengh has to be good but not amazing.

Amps like `Boss` have these speaker inputs options as well as RCA,

If i had to have a say on this kind of a set up i would replace my front speakers with Kappas, you can find loads of postsd on this. I would then disconect the rear speaks all together to connect to the speaker input on the amp.

If you want to leave the rear speakers connected as well as the amp then the signal level will drop and with that so will the sound quality (you will need to use more gain on the amp)

Any amp that can tale speaker inputs will work just fine with any sub, the system will sound loads better if you can use RCA.

I would only opt for this for subs and not for 6 x 9`s in the shelf as the signal is not very clean.

I used to fit these kinds of things for a living and would be happy to help anyone with questions.

cheers karl

the last ont the JBL is a nice one it has the speaker level input, any of these would be ok, all you would need to do is run a power cable to the battery, a negative cable to the seat belt bolt or another good point.

The only thing i can see being a bit funny is the power on cable, they need to be turned on and off by the ignition switch as the Leon radio does not have this cable feature as i can see,

you could leave the unit turned on all the time im not sure if it would slaughter the battery life or the amount of time you could leave the car without starting.

the items listed above are easy to install and strap down to the boot.
