Hi,

When i turn my ignition on, I can hear some sort of sucking/rotating noise from underneath the car for a second or less.

Is that normal?

Cheers

Is it a diesel ? My Leon tdi does the same which I guess is the fuel system priming. Done it ever since I got it so guess it is normal.

i was thinking the same thing earlier when i started my car up.

anyone tell us what it is?

mines a cupra diesel

Yep it is a diesel. First thought was 'Oh ****, the turbo'. Tell me its not that ?:D

No I dont think it the turbo, with just the ignition on you havnt started the car so the turbo will still be stationary :D
I'm pretty sure its the lift pump you can hear which pressurises the fuel lines from the tank to the high pressure injector pump.

Ahhh I miss that sound from my derv days,
It sounds really loud when You've had little sleep.... I can just dear it now.
Totally normal, Mine did it when I picked the car up from the dealer, only had 6 miles on the clock!

mine does it too, once when I open the door, and again when i turn the ignition on. Cupra petrol :)

My wifes 1.4 petrol does it, we just thought it was the immobilizer ?
