Im getting a weird chirping noise when i put my foot down below around 3000 rpm; so in the range where the supercharger is active. After doing some reaserch ive come to the conclusion that it must be the pulley of the supercharger slipping. I am getting a noticable power decrease until the pulley grips and then its like nomal. Was just wondering if anyone else had this problem or had taken their car back to seat and had it fixed. If so, what did they say?

Ive posted the info up on this before now. Done the repair to mine and its been fine for 5k, best take it in and get it diagnosed if your concerned.

i took mine in and they just said to me that it was the supercharger spooling up and all cars do it... confirms the bloke must know **** all about cars....

going to take it back in again..

This seems to be a common fault as I don,t even think I,m getting Supercharger action because when I increase the throttle from idle, I just get what I think is normal unsupercharged performance and then at approx; 3500rpm when the Turbo is up to speed the car suddenly accelerates like I think it should from low revs. I took the car back to the Seat Dealer and they said everything was "Normal"!! I still think it,s lacking "Supercharger" response.
I am waiting to meet someone with a Cupra or Boca and I,m going to try and compare the two cars, I hope.
One thing that did come out of it was an "Update" to the software which did eliminate that awful grating noise that I was getting ,funny how the update was only carried out because I took the car back!! ANY ONE out there Got any Ideas as to how I can prove my theory!! about the Supercharger,is there a common fault that we don,t know about!!! Come on Techie spill the Beans you,ve had problems with yours and we need to know!!!!!!. Bocawata.

Techie's is sorted now. Can you hear the supercharger whine with the windows down when at low rev's you can on mine. There is no sudden burst at 3500rpm it's pretty smooth.

Mine was just a noise, didnt effect performance.

Easy way to check the charger is working is hook up vag com and check boost pressure.

I get this chirping noise sometimes, mostly when flooring the throttle and definitevely after the first several hundred miles had been clocked! When driving at low speeds i can hear the supercharger whine.
Does it affect performance?Probably not,i have driven a standard 1.4 and the pull at low revs was nowhere as explosive as the Cupra's.

I too have the 'chirp' mine is booked in for two weeks time to have that and the other niggles sorted. Apart from that love it! So is it the belt slipping only seems to be under 3000 rpm?

Yes mate its going in on the 7th June probably be me n the missus as we need a courtesy car for the day as well. Squeakage it is thought it was the throttle cable but its not and its at 3000 rpm like everyone elses.

Hi Techie, You say "easy way to check is hook it up to Vag Com " If you have access like your self to Vag Com it is easy but I haven,t !! ,does the boost pressure show up with the car static in a garage say, or does it have to be connected and checked with the car running under load, this is how I imagine it can only be checked as the Supercharger only comes in when under driving conditions up to 3500 rpm!!!.
I have never heard this "whine" that people talk about, is it easily distinguishable when running!!!.
Bocawata.

I always hear it when going slowly like in between speed bumps in 2nd or 3rd.

Windows open helps hear it but i can still hear it with them closed.

What im saying is it is easy for a dealer/someone with VAG COM to check, I wasnt refering to yourself. The clutch doesnt engage when staionary so you would need to be driving to check it.

I've never noticed anything apart from a slight lack of pull away when winter was, but I put that down to cold weather... My car is fine, I drive it without the music on every now and then and don't hear or feel any issues.
