Supercharging

Right i have been thinking for a while about tuning up the engine on my ibiza (only a 1.4) and it got me thinking about the polo G40. so what i was thinking is it possible to supercharge the 1.4 8v ibiza engine and if so what would i need to carry out this sort of mod.

I wouldn't - the gearbox is so crap it'll break with the 70ish bhp you have already

if you could theoretically do a 1.4 can you do a 2l 8v easily or not?

dont think anybody on here has done one have they??
been told its basically the same bits you would use for the g60 is this correct.
can anybody shed some light on the 2l 8v.

the G60 engine is a 1.8 8v and some people have changed bits over from that engine to the 2.0l 8v G60.

you can do it, just it's a very custom job, as i'm finding out doing my Eaton Conversion (1.8l 16v)

Plenty of people have supercharged AGG's. Give me a few mins ill find someones build thread

There is one. People usually use ABFs or 9A engines instead because AGG's are crap.

iv been watching your thread chris and yeah what a cutom job. im not to fussed about the customness as im easy on time, sourcing the parts is the ballacher.

i would really love to supercharge it. any idea on a bhp i might achieve on my 8v if i were to supercharge it, its runnin 125bhp now as standard.

its 5th generation with very few miles on it, see chris's thread if you was to do it im sure he'd be able to help alot with the fabrication parts youd need.

It would be an interesting and different thing to do, you would be the first person to do it and it would be could if it was successful. You could always get a gearbox out of something else, like a gti or another vag car.

You can't - that's the problem.... the 085 gearbox is not the same as the 02A (020 will just strip it's guts out)

the 190/200mm clutch barely copes with the power either.

shame, as it could be good - but not reliably.
