hi

just brought a 03 cupra r (210)and want to superchip it, can this be done easily like bluefin plug in or does it need to go to a tunning shop. i know bluefin cant be used on cupras less then 06 plates.

thanks jbcpr

Remapping the ECU via the OBD port is the preferred method of tuning on Leons.
Go for a leak then try a SEARCH for remap/remaps/remapping and prepare to read a lot.
Also check out the Seatcupra.net Sponsors & Supporters sub forum after the Model Specific Discussion sub forum, look for Custom-Code, Performance Torque, Revo, AMD etc.

anywhere up in teesside that does the remap?

I dunno, but judging by the way you referred to a remap as "the remap" it suggests to me you haven't been looking very hard.
There are numerous different remaps available as mentioned in my 1st reply (Custom-Code, Revo etc), all of which deliver the power differently, so I would do some research before you take the plunge.
Most of the remap companies home pages have a list of agents and their locations.

thanks for the advice but thats not what i want to know, whant to know how easy it is to superchip the leon cupra r 03 plate. remapping and superchipping are 2 differant things.

thanks

Fair do's mate, I am aware they are different things, was just pointing out it's not the preffered option on an LC(R).

I don't know how easy it is to Superchip an LCR, do you know how easy it is to SEARCH on this site?

This is what i did, I typed SUPERCHIPS into the advanced search form and filtered it to just Leon Mk1 and got 4 pages of results, must be something in there for you.

as nick has said. remaps tend to be the easiest for a leon. dont know of anyone chipped .

you could ring a tuner and ask why they remap as opposed to chip... but isnt the remap easier? know naff all about superchips but if it involves physically adding or changing the ecu chip then cant see the point? isnt it the same effect , just different ways of getting there?

to the best of my knowledge superchips are an ecu remapping company like any other, the difference being that they supply a bluefin which allows you to enable (or in the first instance install) and disable the map at your pleasure.

Other companies like Revo offer an SPS device which allows you to do the same and more (adjust ignition timing etc.)

So in theory, superchipping as you put it, is just as easy on the leon as on any other car assumming they do a bluefin for the leon.

If I've understood the above correctly, Bluefin isn't available for pre 2006 which would be all Mk.1 Leons, I think.

bluefin starts on the 06 plate, friend of mine had a fiet coupe and all he had to do was place a chip into a port by the ecu added 40bhp. was just wondering if it was as easy for the leon cupra r 03 plate coz remapping would mean going to a specalist extra cost and if it was as easy as my friends car why waste the money

u get between 30 and 40 bhp i think and about the same torque with a remap and normally between 300 and 400 gets dearer the higher the stage but the rough figures i just gave u were stage 1 at the rough cost given so not alot of difference and ur car gets tested to make sure its in well enogh condition or any slight problems can be sorted beforehand so if i was you i would down that route

if its 499 as advertised its more expensive than some of the remaps .

i think jabbasport, customcode, in fact everyone other than revo charge less for there generic maps.

or are you not paying 499;)

right boys super chipping a 210bhp lcr takes about 4 hours, the ecu will need removing ,and chip solder in place. super chip will take the your lcr from 210 to 255 ish.. so hold on tight!! with a super chip in place, this means it holds control over the ecu fueling and boost,un like a remap which, adds to the 3 maps that come standard on the lcrs for diffrent petrol ie 95,97.98 ron fuels! blue fin from super chips will not work with lcr mk1, they only work with the new seat 2.0 engines and vw, audi, skoda! the 1.8 20vt is in a class of its own!
So what the boys are trying to say is go for a remap, revo custom code,so on! WHY you ask because you dont have to touch the ecu the remap is sent straight down the obd port quick easy and very safe!! i hope this helps!! what you have to remember is ecu tunning is much easy these days, superchips have been around a while, but there are other companys offering as good as remaps for same money!! cheers......................

so what you are saying is it is easyier and prob cheaper to remap and i will get about the same increase in bhp.

thanks guys

yes mate best way to do it!! and stay away from those really cheap remaps on ebay!!!!!! some are ok!! but dont pay under £300 for a remap! £300 and up is the right way to go!!
cheers

Personally i would only go to specialist to get a remap.
At least that way if anything goes wrong you've got more chance of them knowing what's wrong with it rather than Joy Bloggs down the road who's "mapping" anything with wheel's on.
Dont take a chance mate it's a lot of money if it all goes wrong.

Remapping take's about an hour to do and most do before and after logs and test drives or rolling road session to make sure everything is Ok.

yes the golf centre in darlington is a revo dealer..

try speaking to automark in stoksley aswell he is really clued up on vags and mapping..

teesside motor factors :ban: took them 2 weeks to superchip my 206 180

keep to the remaps you will gain the most
