Hi,
I have a Mk1 Cupra 20VT and need some advice on upgrading the shock absorbers. The car was fitted with new standard Sachs shocks and Eibach Pro springs 5 years ago, the springs are 10mm shorter than standard Cupra, so same as Cupra R I think. The car has only done 25K since then, the springs are in good condition but the shocks are not great on damping - and not well thought of on here. I don't want to spend a on new shocks, I was thinking of Bilstein B4 or simlilar. Would these be a reasonable upgrade on the Sachs, or do I need to spend more? I am more concerned with roadholding and comfort than anything else, the roads here in Lancashire are in bad condition with lots of potholes.

Speaking from experience of using the Bilstein B4 shocks and Eibach Pro spring combination on numerous VAG cars over many years i can assure you that they're considerably better than the standard underdamped Sachs struts.
They're actually cheaper as well!
